software solution designed to decrease the threat of children
viewing pornography on computers. ScreenShield uses a

ScreenShield
Components
ScreenShield consists of two components
- the Detection Engine and the Control Panel. The Detection
Engine monitors for potentially pornographic images displayed
on your computer screen and records them to a Log file.
The password protected Control Panel allows you to configure
ScreenShield to meet your individual needs and to view
the Log.

Detection
Engine
The Detection Engine runs on each
PC protected by ScreenShield. This extremely fast detection
engine runs continuously in the background and scans images
displayed on each PC screen for skin tone colors normally
associated with human flesh. All on-screen images are
analyzed for anything suspected to be of a pornographic
nature. If a questionable image is detected, the Detection
Engine records the details, takes a 'snapshot' of the
screen, and transfers the information to the Control Panel
where it is stored and can be reviewed by parents or guardians.
The Detection Engine:
Detects images from all
sources, including:
o
Internet
o CD-ROM
o Floppy disk
o Email
o Hard Disk drives
o Computer
files
Works on both still images
and movies
Supports all video resolutions
and screen depths of 256 colors or more
Logs all events in a
central log file together with thumbnails pictures of
suspect images for further review

to adjust ScreenShield's level of sensitivity to images
