The Control Panel is used to configure
the way ScreenShield will operate, and to view and analyze
any event in the Log. The Control Panel provides access
to all aspects of ScreenShield operation. The Control
Panel is password protected to prevent unauthorized access
to the ScreenShield settings.

Enable / Disable
ScreenShield can be enabled and disabled
using the General Control Panel setting. You also have
the option to disable ScreenShield for X
minutes, which suspends the Detection Engine for the specified
period of time. After the specified time period, ScreenShield
will be automatically reactivated.

Detection Engine
Once installed, ScreenShield's Detection
Engine runs constantly. There is no user intervention
required to start the Detection Engine - it will start
automatically every time the PC is turned on.
Settings allow you to adjust the sensitivity
levels of ScreenShield's Detection Engine to images displayed
on the computer screen. The default ScreenShield settings
are designed to provide an acceptable level of protection
against pornographic images.
Setting also allow you to determine
whether ScreenShield will lock the PC upon detection of
a pornographic image or just log the event. ScreenShield
offers three (3) Modes of Operation.

Lock / UnLock
The Lock / Unlock settings allow you
determine what action(s) ScreenShield should take when
locking and unlocking the computer screen. (ScreenShield
will only lock the computer screen when running in Active
Mode.)
Display the ScreenShield block
screen to prevent viewing of suspect images
Display a custom lock message or use default
message
Disconnect any modem connections that are active
when the screen is about to be locked
Restart delay setting specifies the time period
that ScreenShield should wait, after the PC has been
unlocked, before scanning the screen again.

Password Protection
You can change your password using the
ScreenShield Control Panel. You may also specify a different
password to unlock the PC when running in Active Mode.

Log
The Log is ScreenShield's audit trail
that contains information on suspect images flagged by
the Detection Engine as well as details of any error messages.
The log lists all the events and
errors that have occurred since the log was last cleared
including: a description, user name, event code and time/date
stamp. A snapshot of the PC screen taken when ScreenShield
detects a suspect image is also logged with each event.
