The Control Panel is used to configure
the way in which the ScreenShield detection engine will
operate, and to view and analyze any events in the Log
file. It is password-protected for security and allows
the ScreenShield Administrator to centrally configure,
monitor and control individual or groups of ScreenShield
clients operating across the organization's network.

The Control Panel displays the
status of each PC, visibly highlighting those that have
been locked as a result of the user viewing a suspect
adult image. The ScreenShield Administrator can review
the Log for any PC client and remotely lock or unlock
a user's screen as required from the Control Panel.
Profile Menu
A Profile is a set of ScreenShield
Detection Engine parameters which can be applied to one
or more PC clients on the network. ScreenShield supports
virtually an unlimited number of Profiles. The Profile
function allows you to set ScreenShield configuration
options for detecting adult images. Using the Control
Panel, the ScreenShield Administrator can maintain Profiles
- create, modify, delete, or revert to default settings
- and can assign clients to a Profile. Each Profile is
assigned one of ScreenShield's four (4) Modes
of Operation, which controls the level of sensitivity
to potentially explicit images.
Image
Image settings allow the ScreenShield Administrator
to define the type and size of an image on which detection
should be performed
Detection
Detection settings allow the ScreenShield Administrator
to determine how the Detection Engine interprets if
an image contains pornographic content through sensitivity
filters
Event
Event settings allow the ScreenShield Administrator
customize the Log, Warning and Locking processes. The
Log is ScreenShield's audit trail that contains information
on suspect images flagged by the Detection Engine as
well as details of any error messages. It displays,
in date/time order, the current contents of the audit
log and messages relating to any errors that ScreenShield
may encounter.
Log
Administrators can determine the frequency and size
of images ScreenShield is detecting and saving, to
limit the size of the Log file.
Warnings
Administrators can establish a limit to the number
of warnings ScreenShield should issue to the user
before locking the PC when Active Mode Warning is
selected.
Lock
Administrators can customize how ScreenShield functions
when Active Mode is selected, including:
ScreenShield
can display a customized message when locking the
PC.
ScreenShield can be instructed
to attempt to disconnect Internet connections after
a suspect image is detected and the Active Mode lockout
screen is displayed.
ScreenShield client PC(s) can
be unlocked locally, i.e. from the PC where the ScreenShield
client is installed.
ScreenShield client PC(s) that
has been locked with Active Mode Lock can be automatically
unlocked after a user-defined lock timeout period
has expired.
Suspend
Administrators can specify the time period that ScreenShield
should wait after the PC has been unlocked before
scanning the screen again. This delay allows time
for the removal the of image that caused ScreenShield
to initially lock the PC.
Schedule Menu
The scheduler allows the administrator
more flexibility in assigning the profiles of client PCs.
The administrator can set a time table of profiles for
clients. For instance a client can be assigned to Profile1
from morning to afternoon and then transferred to Profile2
during the afternoon and finally Profile3 during the night.
This flexibility also extends to different days throughout
the week.
Actions Menu
From the Actions menu administrators
can:
Lock client. Enables
you to lock ScreenShield clients from the clients list.
Unlock client. Enables you to unlock ScreenShield
clients remotely from the clients list.
View Error Log. To display the image log of an
ScreenShield client, select a client from the list and
double click or click on Error Log.

Tools Menu
The Control Panel Tools
allow the ScreenShield Administrator to perform system
maintenance activities, including:
Refresh - update Profile and client PC listings
Uninstall - centrally uninstall ScreenShield
from any client on the network
Delete - clear the Log for specified client(s)
Options - set default configuration options and
change ScreenShield passwords
Help Menu
ScreenShield's online help
features a table of contents, search capabilities and
a how to use / instructions for Administrators. It also
contains an About ScreenShield Section with product registration
information including the version number and key required
in case you need to contact Technical Support.
